The "think green" trend sweeping South Africa has set the ball rolling for the plastic recycling industry. Plastic poles and planks are manufactured from recyclable plastic waste. To explain the process in short, the carefully selected waste plastic is grind into small bits, washed and dried. A small quantity of chemical is added which makes the product fire retardant and prevent it from brittling in the sun. Colour pigments are added according to the client’s specification. This mixture is then carefully melted and extruded into a mould ... and voila! ... you have your pole or plank. The product is extremely versatile and replaces wood and most cement and metal items.
The recycled plastic garden furniture range is highly popular. Institutions like schools, hospitals, universities and colleges are using the outdoor furniture range because it is maintenance free and virtually vandalism free.
